Electrocution and Ladder Fall on Philadelphia Jobsite
Electrocution and Ladder Fall on Philadelphia Jobsite
ILP learned of a fatal workplace injury which happened last week and resembles cases we’ve handled in the past. While current details are limited, it is likely that a failure to protect workers and a lack of consistency and protocol caused this incident.
On Wednesday, May 8, police reported that a man was electrocuted and fell from a ladder at a jobsite on the 6500 block of Lansdowne Avenue. Here, NBC 10 reported on the incident.
When ILP investigates matters like this unnecessary, tragic death, we start from the ground up and leave no stone unturned. Some aspects of the incident that we would question at the start of the case are:
- What caused or allowed power to flow from an energized object into a person?
- What companies or contractors were responsible for site safety?
- Have these companies or contractors been investigated because of injuries or deaths on other worksites?
- Who witnessed the incident?
- Has the physical evidence been saved and preserved for evaluation and inspection?
We’re sorry that this incident happened – it shouldn’t have. We continue to fight tirelessly for victims of workplace injuries and deaths. At ILP, we believe each and every person deserves to come home safely after a hard day’s work.
